This weekend, Australia, like many countries around the world, celebrates her Mums. For weeks, streets have been adorned with banners, shop windows filled with gift suggestions and the TV has been littered with advertising. You’d have to live under a rock to miss the fact that Mothers’ Day was on the way! Amidst the whirlwind … Continue reading How Do You Maintain Relationships with Your Loved-Ones Whilst Living Abroad?
Repatriating or Relocating? Your Steps to Leaving Well so you can Enter Well
Following my last post about the Importance of Goodbyes, I have received considerable feedback from readers regarding how to go about saying Goodbye. Here is a repost of my blog outlining how to leave well so you can enter your next destination well.
The Importance of Goodbye
Do you feel like this year is flying by? Depending on which hemisphere you reside, schools are returning from their Spring Break or gearing up for their Autumn Break. Students are either preparing for the final run into the end of the academic year followed by a long Summer vacation or for mid-year assessments … Continue reading The Importance of Goodbye
European Enlightenment: Lesson 1 – Empathy
This blog post has taken shape in the Paediatric Ward of our local hospital. To my right, through the salt splashed window panes, the powerful Pacific Ocean waves crash heavily upon the sand (I do find it intriguing that hospitals and cemeteries so often have the best views!). To my left, amidst the rhythmical beeps and … Continue reading European Enlightenment: Lesson 1 – Empathy

As an Educator, Global Mobility Advisor and Mum to…

On the surface, the news looks bad for students who move schools out-of-synch with normal transitions (such as … Continue reading Mobility Impacts Learning: The Bad News and the Good News
When Your Child Goes to Boarding School: Beneath the Surface
I love learning...which is probably a good thing considering I have spent the last 23 years as an Educator! Earlier this week I had the privilege of sitting under the tutelage of Dr Anne Copeland, a researcher and licensed psychologist with expertise in cultural transition and clinical psychology. She really got me thinking about the family … Continue reading When Your Child Goes to Boarding School: Beneath the Surface
